Meeting #1

 Topic - Forgiveness

Today is the first day of the Curiosity Corner Club. Welcome friends!

If you have not read my blog post on forgiveness, please start there. You'll find that both the blog and club are tied together. I want to suggest a weekly topic for us all to work on. Forgiveness is an important place to start since unforgiveness can block the blessings of our lives.

Our first activity is an effort to adjust our thoughts and mindsets. I would like us all to list the people who need forgiveness. If you're like me, it may take a while.

After making that list, begin taking each person individually to forgive. I've given you a week to make your list because it can be an arduous process if you are anything like me.

Pray the prayer from my blog for each one: Father, I forgive so and so; they don't owe me anything; I am only your servant. The Holy Spirit may guide you to add things He reveals through this process. Please, be open to him.

After you have forgiven each person and prayed that simple prayer, bless them. Remembering to forgive and bless your enemies is not only a command from Jesus but will begin to eliminate those negative pictures from your mind and painful emotions from your heart. It's hard to dislike or hate someone you are blessing.

Matthew 5:43-45 - You have heard it said, "You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

Jesus' teaching is practical. He asks us to follow this Law of Love because attention to love for others will bring love to us. It sounds like the Law of Attraction. I know some people will cringe, but I see the similarity.

For those you need to forgive, this may take weeks or months of repetitive prayers and blessings. It should be a daily check-in with the Holy Spirit to see if there is someone you need to forgive. I promise you, as I was promised, that you will begin to feel better. Forgiveness was my first step in changing my mind - it's a proactive adjustment to our thinking.

You should throw out that list after you work your way through the names. Otherwise, it may become a grudge list.

Good luck, and see you next week,

Denise
